Baltimore Select 14U Team wins the 1st Annual Gilbert Arenas Hero to Zero Tournament

Coach Locke and his 14U team used this tournament as a way to continue getting prepared for the upcoming National AAU tournament. This was a late addition to the schedule, but Coach Locke did not want his team sitting around doing nothing for another weekend. Coach Locke will send an update for me to place on the site. With the season winding down, Coach Locke has coached them to a 48-15 record starting back to the Metro Sixers Fall league that ended in February. Congratulations to Coach Locke and the 14U Select team and good luck at Nationals.

Select 17U team makes it to the Finals (Gold Bracket) at the 1st Annual Gilbert Arenas - Zero to Hero Tournament
During this "live period" tournament, the 17U Select team decided to play team ball against stiff competition. WIth the Washington Shock and the DC Assault Gold team in the same pool, it started off as a tough tournament. After loosing the 1st game to Assault by 12 points, the team battled back and beat the Washington Shock team to advance to 1-1 in the pool. With Assault's disqualification, the Select team moved into 1st place and into the GOLD bracket Championship. The team played well as the stakes grew while participating against all first place pool winners. First, getting past a tough Primtyme (DC) team and then against a real tough Squash All Beef (DC) team in the final four. In the finals, we met up against one of the best teams we have played all summer, Triple Threat (DC). It was a tough loss with Select staying close in the 1st half, eventually getting blown out in the second. The team will be traveling tomorrow to WV for the HoopGroup Jamfest. Congratulations to Coach Holley and the Select 17U team.
