October
7, 2004Point Guard getting looks, setting up visits
Carroll
Mitchell pg from Towson Catholic will be making arrangements for some weekend
travel in the months of October and November (before early signing begins November
15). Mitchell has been a consistant leader for Towson Catholic and the Baltimore
Select team. He is a very unselfish player who can control a team. He is a smart
player that has the potential to be the floor general and a scorer. He is currently
setting up a visit with the Citadel for the near future and will be setting a
few more up with American, Cornell, Lehigh, Georgetown (NAIA) and Lenoir Ryhne.
Mitchell has already acheived the scores with a strong GPA and a qualifying SAT
score. We will keep you updated on his recruiting.

29, 2004Baltimore Select/Adidas inks deal with three local schoolsWith
the affiliation to Adidas, Baltimore Select has secured sponsorship deals for
the 2004-2005 high school season for Aberdeen, McDonogh and Mt. St. Joseph. Negotiations
have been in progress with these programs for a few months and just recently details
were worked out and the deals are complete. We had the opportunity to support
three teams in the area; a possible fourth is being worked on. We look forward
to these teams representing the three stripes this upcoming season. Baltimore
Select 16's go 3-1 at Charlie WeberAfter cruising through pool play with
great play from Donte Green, Malcolm Delaney, Eric Barksdale, Desmond Thomas,
Aric Brooks and Ben Goetsch; the team ran into the wall loosing by one point with
a missed final shot. The team played well enough to keep it tight with only six
players in the first playoof game. With a complete roster, the Select team was
looking forward to getting to the finals. Clark Francis from HOOPSCOOP recruiting
service's had the following to write about the Select team after there performance
at Charlie Weber: "the biggest surprise in the tournament was 6'7 Soph Donte
Green from Towson (Catholic) MD, who scored 29 points when we saw him against
the Team Maryland 16's. Not only is Green a big time athlete/shot blocker/rebounder,
but he reminds us Rudy Gay at the same stage. In other words, we're talking about
a killer inside and, if, he grows several more inches and continues to develop
his low post moves, we're could be talking about a guy who could play a lot of
years in the NBA. Or, if, like Gay, he develops a 3-point shot and perimeter skills,
Green really could be become the next Rudy Gay, although he hails from the same
high school that originally produced Carmelo Anthony. However, Green wasn't the
only good young player on the Baltimore Select team, as 6'2 Soph Malcolm Delaney
from Towson (Catholic) MD, 6'6 Jr Ben Goetsch from Baltimore (Gilman) MD, 5'3
Soph Eric Barksdale from Baltimore (Dunbar) MD, and 6'4 Soph Aric Brooks from
Baltimore (St. Frances) MD also were worth noting." www.hoopscooponline.com

27, 2004Thomas Update After
taking a visit and talking with the coaching staff, Thomas really enjoyed his
visit to Loyola College. He will be setting up visits with Elon, Stony Brook and
Norfolk State, but after talking with Thomas, those schools will have to do a
great job for him to forget his visit to Loyola. Courtney says that Loyola has
everything he is looking for in a school and the fact that everyone will be able
to watch him play every home game is a bonus. Loyola also received an oral comittment
from a friend of his, Archbishop Spaldings point guard Marquis Sullivan. We will
wait and see what happens over the next few weeks, the early signing period begins
in mid November.
September 9, 2004Recruiting is getting
heavy for former Select Big Man
Former
select big fella, Dennard Abraham (6'9 - 260 pds), will be finishing his second
year at South Plains Junior College in Lubbock, Texas. Since the end of last season
Dennard has been feelling calls from a few Division 1 coaches looking to get his
services. Dennard has to get his list down to 5 schools out of a list that includes
South Florida, Cincinnati, Washington State, Purdue, Towson, Georgia State, New
Mexico State, Utah State, St. Johns, Louisiana Tech. Dennard has received offers
from South Florida, Georgia State, Utah State, Towson and Louisiana Tech. He has
set up an official visit with South Florida for the first weekend in October.
He has not comitted to signing during the early period, he will weigh all his
options to find the best fit for his needs academically and athletically.
