Coach Gibson leads the 11's to another Championship
The 11U team traveled to Northern Virginia this weekend to play in the East Coast Clash sponsored by the SPB Starz. After playing tough pool games, the team fought hard to get through the playoffs with the eventual championship win. This was another tournament to keep the kids busy, preparing for Nationals at the end of July. Congratualtions Coach Ken and the 11U players!!!

Selby makes top 10 at Phenom Camp of Class of 2010
Rising Freshman Josh Selby went out to San Diego with a mission - to solidify that he is one of the best in the Class of 2010. While he was competing at the camp, he fullfilled his mission. Selby was a unanamous pick in the 2010 Class All-Star voting for the East Team. Selby came out of the camp staying in the top 20 of his class and also being ranked as one of the top 4 guards at the camp. Selby will look forward to finishing off his summer by playing attending Eastern Invitational Camp July 5-8 and then going on with the Select team to the Triple "S" Harley Davidson Tournament in West Virginia July 14-16. Congratulations Josh!!!

Donte Stuckey puts his name out there in the National Rankings at Phenom Camp
Stuckey wanted to go out to California and make a mark and to evaluate what he needed to work on to continue to get better. He did make his mark and was evaluated and now is committed to work to get better. Going out to the camp everyone in Baltimore knew he was one of the best talents we hav in the class of 2009, but no one else knew. As of today, Clark Francis of HoopScoop has ranked Stuckey as the #12 2G coming out of this weekends Phenom Camp. This will help Stuckey in his national rankings and is sure to propel his confidence and committment to work hard. Congratulations Stuckey!!!

Two Select players look to make there mark on the National Scene at the Phenom 150 Camp
 Rising Freshman Josh Selby and rising sophomore Dante Stuckey will be attending the Phenom 150 Camp in San Diego, California this weekend. The two will put there skills up against 300 of there grades peers in this National Camp. They are going out to Joe Keller's camp to learn and to play ball against players from all over the country. The days are filled with instructions, guest speakers and of course lots of games. We look forward to hearing how they do in this camp and wish them well.

16's run thru Charm City Summer Slam
After having a few weeks off since there last tournament, the team was itching to get back to some action. Well they found it at the Charm City Summer Slam this weekend at the Park School. After cruising thru pool play, the team had a tough Saturday schedule and a grueling three games on Sunday. The team fought hard and eventually won a tough game against Reach One Teach One out of Philly. It was a close game throughout with the Select team maintaining a small lead thru the first half.
The Select team came out the second half on fire, but the Philly team maintained there composure and never allowed the lead to swell past 5 or six points. Both teams battled to the end with Select eventually pulling off the win by three points.

Baltimore Select 11U team wins Hoopfest
The Select 11U team traveled to Richmond this memorial day weekend to play in the Richmond Metro Hoopfest. After winning all there pool games, the select team faced the host team, Team Richmon Metro in the finals. In a tough game that was won in overtime, the 11U team prevailed and took the championship. Congratulations to Coach Ken and Coach Howard and the kids for another championship!!!

11U Wins Maryland State Tournament
The Select 11U team coached by Ken Gibson won the 11U State Championship today in a tight game vs. Team Mousillini. This was the second time these teams met in the state tournament and both were hard fought games. The select team will head into the National Tournament representing the State of Maryland in July.

15U Wins Maryland State Tournament
The Select 15U team coached by Kelvin Brides won the 15U State Divsion II Championship today in a tight game vs. Eastern Shore. This was the second time these teams met in the state tournament and both were hard fought games. The select team will head into the National Division II Tournament representing the State of Maryland in July.

Jai lewis signs with the New York Giants
Former Select player and recent competitor in the 2006 Final Four with George Mason signs a Free Agent contract to play football with the New York Giants. After attending the Portsmouth Basketball Camp, NFL teams started to take a closer look at Lewis for football. Lewis has not played football since high school, but continues to have excellent foot work and great hands. This compbination had 8 teams in the NFL looking at lewis as a possible free agent signee. After weighing his options, Lewis and his family decided to sign with the New York Giants. Congratulations

Glen Burnie standout signs with Panola
Glen Burnie HS and Select standout Mitch Guest has decided to attend Panola JUCO. After taking a year off to work and support his family, Mitch has decided that the best thing he can do is finish his education. Mitch will continue his basketball career at Panola starting in August. He will be playing in one of the top JUCO conferences in the country. Mitch will begin working out with the current group of Select student athletes in order to get in shape for the upcoming season. Congratulations Mitch!!!
