Spruill is now being heavily recruited by Boston College, Colorado, Nebraska, College of Charleston, Kent State, LaSalle and George Mason with a few others wanting to come in a take a look at his abilities. The schools listed above have all contacted Select and/or Coach Bridges(Walbrook HS) and let us know that they have been following him since his breakout at the Kingwood Classic in April and they want to have Spruill take unofficial visits too their campuses until he takes his SAT. We will keep you up to date on Rodney's recuiting as we receive the information from the Spruill family. Jackson heads to Prince Avenue Prep School (Pickens, SC) with a choice of schools to begin official visits
St. Frances forward getting a few looksThe 6'6 F from St. Frances Academy, Rashawn Alexander (2006), has schools such as Albany, Akron, Florida Atlantic, Hampton and Elon looking to set up visits in the near future. Shawn played well throughout the spring/summer session with Select showing off his ability to play the wing spot and also bang inside with the big fellas. Alexander started off his spring with a great performance at the Kingwood Classic in April. SImilar to Spruill, some coached never heard of him before this tournament, it turned out to be a great tourny for Shawn. We will keep you updated on his recruiting througout the school year. Dunbar forward boarding his way to a scholarshipThe 6'5 F from Dunbar High School, Delano Johnson (2006), rebounded his way to some looks by college coaches. Johnson has schools such as Central Connecticut State, Hampton Fairleigh Dickinson and Howard looking to see if Johnson can help there programs next year. Johnson is also an outstanding footbal player for Dunbar, so we will see what decision he makes this year. Will it be football or basketball????? We will keep you updated on his recruiting throughout the school year. Former Select player Gus Chase sets up three visits early...
August 20, 2005 Moore transfers to George Washington University
Moore was a standout freshman at Clemson; he worked his way into the starting lineup for the beginning of the season (17 games), but was eventually made to be the man coming off the bench to help spark the team. He averaged over 19 minutes a game and 6.6 pts per game. This was a decision that has been brewing for a few months, this was not something that just came up. Both parties agreed that tranferring would be in the best interest of Cheyenne and the Tigers program.
http://clemsontigers.collegesports.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/081505aaa.html August 17, 2005 Calvert Hall Standout will stay home and attend Loyola CollegeSelect coaches just got off the phone with Ricky Harris (Calvert Hall) and he informed us that after a year at Winchendon Prep, he will stay home and attend Loyola College. After a busy spring/summer where Harris was undecided to move forward with his early verbal comittment to Loyola or open up his recruiting, Ricky decides to honor his verbal. During his play with the Select team, Harris saw his recruiting increase with schools like St. Bonaventure, Rhodel Island, Wagner, Norfolk State and Marshall looking to add this combo guard to their teams. It was a tough decision for Ricky after he saw how many coaches were looking for his services, but in the end after talking it over with his family and friends he decided that Loyola was the best place for him after a year of prep. We would like to congratulate Ricky and we hope the best for him and look forward to watching him play at Loyola. July 10, 2005 Jackson and Spruill get back from a tough Adidas SuperStar Camp in Atlanta, GARobbie Jackson did well for a big fella at these guard oriented summer camps. We all know that big fellas have to work extra hard at these camps because the guards control the ball and they are out to get theirs in front of the coaches. Jackson played well in the half court sets, but he did show that he must work on his conditioning next year. Select coaches can confirm that Jackson is being looked at by Xavier, Pittsburgh, Clemson, Rhode Island, South Florida and Towson. Jackson will be attending Prince Avenue Prep next year in Pickens, SC to finish his academic requirements and work on his basketball skills. Rodney Spruill made a name for himself at this camp. Everyone knows who he is on Baltimore; State Champion and Baltimore City Player of the Year. But at this camp he was going up against names such as Nolan Smith and Wayne Ellington (two of the top guards in the country). So he went to camp to prove his abilities are as good as these ranked players and he did. Select can comfirm that Spruill is being recruited by Wright State, Kent State, Marshall, Manhattan, Charlotte, Towson and Florida A&M. Congratulations to Jackson & Spruill!!! July 9, 2005 Harris and Rogers make Top 20 at Eastern InvitationalRicky Harris faired well at this weeks Eastern Invitational at the Colleg of New Jersey. After plating well during the camps games, he was chosen as one of the top upperclassmen at the camp. During the All-Star game consisting of the Top 20 upperclassmen, Harris showed off his excellant range and scoring ability at the same time proving that he has improved point guard skills making great passes to open teammates. Select coaches verify that Harris is getting recruited by Rhode Island, Kent State, St. Bonaventure, Wagner, Loyola and Norfolk State; we can confirm that St. Bonaventure has made an official offer. Harris will be attending Winchenden Academy next year for a year of prep school to work on his academics. Beloved Rogers, a rising junior at St. Andrews in Deleware also played excellant for the 3rd straight at the Eastern Invitational Camp. He was named to the Top 20 underclassment All-Star Game. During the game, Beloved showed off his jumping ability by going to the basket strong at the same time showing off his range and improved point guard skills similar to Harris. Congratulations to both Select Players!!! July 4, 2005 It's Camp Time!!!Congratulations to the Select atheletes that have either been chosen to go off to the Adidas Camps in Atlanta and we would also like to congratulate the Select kids that chose to sign up and go to the Eastern Invitational Camp in New Jersey.
